Dr. Mingshen Lin Visits and Gives a Seminar on ITC
On May 26, 2026, Dr. Mingshen Lin visited our university and delivered an engaging seminar on isothermal titration calorimetry to faculty and students.
In his talk, Dr. Lin first gave a systematic introduction to the definition and importance of molecular interactions, noting that they are central to many areas of chemistry, biology, medicine, and related fields. He then compared several major techniques currently used to characterize molecular interactions, with particular emphasis on isothermal titration calorimetry as an important method for studying molecular recognition, host-guest interactions, supramolecular assembly, and related systems. He highlighted that this technique can directly provide key thermodynamic information, including stoichiometry, binding constants, entropy changes, and enthalpy changes.
The seminar helped the audience deepen their understanding of quantitative methods for characterizing molecular interactions and offered useful guidance for experimental design and data analysis. After the talk, students and faculty raised many questions and engaged in an in-depth discussion with Dr. Lin. He responded patiently to each question, creating a lively and thoughtful academic exchange.
