Congratulations to Tianyi Yang on Successfully Defending Her PhD Dissertation
On March 13, 2026, Tianyi Yang, a PhD student in our group, successfully defended her doctoral dissertation, marking the successful completion of a major milestone in her doctoral training.
During her time in the group, Tianyi focused on multicomponent assembly systems based on cucurbiturils, with particular emphasis on assembly kinetics and dynamic behavior. She achieved a series of innovative results on the interconversion of intermediates in multipathway assembly networks, as well as on how system dynamics influence excited-state relaxation processes. Her work has provided valuable theoretical insight and experimental experience for the group’s future research in this area.
In preparation for the final defense, a pre-defense was held on September 8, 2025, with Professors Zexing Qu, Wenjing Tian, Bin Xu, Haichao Liu, and Yunfeng Li serving as reviewers. Tianyi carefully considered their comments and suggestions, thoroughly revised her dissertation, and further strengthened both the quality of the thesis and her defense presentation.
At the formal defense, Professors Hao Li, Bing Yang, Zeyuan Dong, Ming Wang, and Zehuan Huang served on the examination committee. Tianyi presented her research framework, original findings, and future outlook with clarity and confidence. In responding to the committee’s questions, she drew on experimental evidence to provide thoughtful and well-reasoned analysis, demonstrating both strong scholarly ability and solid professional training. The committee unanimously approved her dissertation defense.
All members of the group warmly congratulate Tianyi on earning her PhD degree. We also thank her for her long-standing dedication and contributions to the group, and wish her every success in the next stage of her academic and professional journey.
